荣誉学位(Honours Degrees，简写Hons)这个词来源于西方，又被翻译成优等生学位，主要存在于英国和澳洲两个国家。
在澳洲，荣誉学位课程通常实在普通学士课程后再加一年，但有些科系已将其融合到普通学士课程当中，甄选上的学生可以在大二或大三开始其荣誉学士课程的学习。
学习荣誉学位课程的同学需完成自身专业科目的深入研究，通常包括四到五门研究性科目和一篇高质量的两万字论文，学习强度非常大。
荣誉学士成绩由研究性科目成绩和论文共同组成，最终等级划分为
一等荣誉学位 HonoursI
二等上荣誉学位 Honours IIA
二等下荣誉学位 Honours IIB
三等荣誉学位 HonoursIII
荣誉学士学位一般仅对本校的本科生开放。荣誉学位的竞争尤为激烈，只有成绩优异的毕业生（排名前5%）才有机会入选此荣誉学位。一等荣誉学位的授予量每年都会有严格控制，通常一个学校一届学生只有1到2位。通常情况下，获得二等上荣誉学士可以直接读博士。
在全球范围内都拥有非常高的认可度。申请美国或英国的研究生，部分院校是不接受澳洲三年制普通本科学士学位，而荣誉学士学位受到普遍的认可。即使有些学校的硕士课程接受澳洲三年制不同本科学士学位，其成绩要求也比澳洲荣誉学位学士持有者高很多。
